waterstones. The coarse grit silicon carbide promotes
maximum cutting performance while the diagonal
grooves provide a swarf removal exit during the pro-

Typically in machine shops, the granite surface block has been found to be perfect
for assisting in sharpening chisels, block planes, and more in the everyday work-
shop.The flat face of a granite plate is great for leveling plane beds, flattening water
stones, and general sharpening. Soak a piece of wet dry sandpaper in water - lay it
on the stone, and the capillary action of the water adheres the paper to the stone -
no need for spray adhesives or sticky backed sand paper. The Granite block can be
wiped clean with a paper towel. The block measures 2" thick x 9" x 12".

Waterstones are designed to be softer than an oilstone.
This Softer Grade of stone allows it to be used with
water as the lubricant versus oil, to develop a fast cut-
ting “slurry” with use. The Norton Waterstone system
is designed in a carefully planned sequence to create
sharpening efficiency. You get the level of abrasiveness
you need at each stage without wasting time trying to
sharpen your tools on a grit that is too fine too soon.
Because waterstones wear concave with use, the stones
must be flattened periodically. As with all of Nortons
waterstones, they come in plastic protective case.
The combination waterstones provides you with the
convenience of different grits on opposite sides of the
stone. An economical solution for those who don’t do
a lot of sharpening, but still need some sort of device
