Parting tools allow the lathe to be used for cutting to a specific diameter or cutting through wood stock. A pointed tool used to separate (part off) work from the lathe, and to create a straight edge separating large and small diameter sections. Used as a standard parting tool would be, however, the special diamond section of this tool lessens the chance for binding in the cut, and reduces friction and burning.
