Full Size Diamond Carbide Tipped Tool

The Axe™ replaceable carbide tip woodturning tools from Carter Products are setting a new industry standard in the turning world. Made in the USA, the unique design of these tools features a 16" solid Maple handle. Ergonomically shaped, the handles have two large flats incorporated to provide positive registration in the hand while providing hours of comfortable turning. Another feature of these tools is the 5/8" round 303 stainless steel tool bar. A 1/2" flat has been machined onto the tool bar to provide a secure purchase on the tool rest.

No longer will you need to worry about sharpening your turning tools. With two razor-sharp cutting points available, simply loosen the set screw and rotate the cutter to a new point when one becomes dull. Additionally the design of the cutters does not require you to “find the bevel” like traditional turning tools. Place the tool onto the rest flat and parallel to the ground, advance the tool slowly into the workpiece, and begin cutting.

The design of The Axe Diamond Tool is perfect for parting off projects, creating beads, coves, V-grooves or a dovetail for 4-jaw chucking applications.

The AXE™
Hybrid™ Diamond Carbide Tipped Tool

This tool features a Diamond carbide bit and is a new size Carter calls the Hybrid™. Carter created the Hybrid™ line which has many of the tool bar size advantages to a smaller mini size tool, while retaining a fuller sized midi handle to give added functionality while not sacrificing any control from a too small handle. All shafts still feature the same great functions of the full size AXE™ but in a smaller package. The bits on all but the Diamond are a smaller size to go along with the smaller shafts.

The handle has flat sides and angled rear. The tapper and flats on the rear not only allow for a more comfortable grip, but in the round and square tool they allow for positive angle registration when sheer cutting with the tool slightly angled. To facilitate the transition of angled cutting, both the round and square tipped tools have flat bases with slightly radius edges to allow smooth flowing movement from flat to angled. The flats also allow you to know the angle of the cutter when it isn't so easy to see as in bowls or other turnings where the cutter head is inside the piece.

All tools in the AXE line will repeat the same color code throughout the line. Thus, any size tool with a gold ferrule will be a detail tool. Any tool with a red ferrule will be a round tool and any tool with a blue ferrule will be a square tool. This way, at a moment’s glance to the tool rest, the correct tool can be found every time. As we add other shapes or cutters, new colors will follow but remain consistent within the entire AXE line. We plan to try to have different color handles per size as well. Thus the full size is hard maple and the Hybrid™ size is cherry also done for that visual instant tool recognition.

Easy Detailers

The Easy Detailer has been designed for the primary purpose of doing the small intricate work and cutting final details on your projects such as small coves and beads on both spindle and bowl work. They are also very handy for cutting chuck tenons and making inside reverse angle cuts for inside chucking bowls with dovetail jaws. You may find they work well for hogging your green wood projects too. As with all Easy Wood Tools, when the cutter eventually dulls, just loosen the retaining screw and rotate cutter, then re-tighten the screw. Replace tip when necessary.

Note: The Detailer tool comes with The Diamond shaped carbide tip. This tip works with all of the Easy Wood Tool Detailer tools.
