The great thing about carbide cutters is that when an edge gets used and becomes dull, all you have to do is rotate the cutter for a fresh, clean, razor sharp edge!

The tips are replaceable when needed (sold in a pack of 3 with one of each cutter in the pack). Unlike standard tools, when using carbide tipped cutter such as these, you keep the cutter straight in on the turning which produces a shearing action.

This produces much cleaner cuts and tends to be easier then using standard turning tools. The handles each have molded grips that provide better grip and less fatigue after extended periods of use. These Tips are compatible with Easy Wood Tool mini and mid-size Carbide Tips.

When the carbide cutter finally dulls, simply loosen the screw that holds the cutter in place, rotate the cutter to a sharp, clean edge and then secure the cutter by tightening the screw.

Round Carbide Cutter

Round cutters are primarily designed for finishing cuts, especially on inside curves of bowls and spindles. This cutter shape also works well for shaping and hollowing bowls.

Square Carbide Cutter

Square cutters are generally used for roughing out material and for that reason they are sometimes referred to as a rougher tool or cutter. They are ideally used on flat or convex surfaces and they remove more material than the round or diamond shape cutters.

Diamond Shaped Mini Cutter

The diamond shaped carbide cutter is designed for putting the final details on your project such as small beads and coves on both spindle and bowls. Along with the lighter detail cuts, this cutter shape can also be used for roughing, finishing and cutting chuck tenons.

Razor Sharp Edges

The great thing about carbide cutters is that when an edge gets used and becomes dull, all you have to do is rotate the cutter for a fresh, clean, razor sharp edge!

These three cutters have been designed to replace the 3 cutters that come with the Savannah 3 piece large carbide turning tool set. However, the Savannah 3 piece cutter set may work with many other brands of carbide turning tools that you may already have in your shop. This cutter set comes with two screws that are sized for Savannah turning tools, but depending on your turning tool thread size, you may need to use the screws that came with your turning tools to properly secure these cutters.

We offer the cutters in a 3 pack that includes 1 each of the most commonly used profiles. This pack also includes 2 screws for securing the cutters to the tool. Please note: the screws in this pack may or may not properly fit your turning tool. This means you must use the screws that came with your original turning tool.

The pack contains a French Curve, perfect for shear scraping inside forms such as egg cups and goblets, a Teardrop, a popular cutter choice ideal for a range of finishing sweeping cuts inside or outside forms, a Mushroom cutter, great for undercutting and Dovetail or box scraper, an model choice for creating parallel side walls and 90 degree corners in boxes.

Sharpening:
Use a diamond file or honing stone across the top face. To gain best results and increase the longevity of the cutter this simple procedure should be done little and often. Use the TurnMaster cutter holder to reshape the profile on the Robert Sorby ProEdge using a zirconium or ceramic belt, or on a grinding wheel using a standard abrasive material.
