Modular Face Plate Systems

The Carter FACE-OFF™ modular face plate system is a unique new system that allows the turner the ability to use multiple faces for their work, while only needing one threaded adapter for mounting on the lathe. This allows the turner to keep the face mounted on their work while it dries, they work on another project, or anything that would require a turner to normally remove and need to remount a faceplate. Since the face can now remain mounted the piece will be perfectly centered when they come back to turning it again. Each adapter has a set of two alignment pins which bring the adapter perfectly on center for every face. It also utilizes the same alignment system as the Center Master™ SOLO™ system for perfect blank alignment everytime.

The Modular Face Plate Systems come in 3" or 6" Face Plates with either 1" or 1-1/4" x 8 tpi.

Patriot 3-1/8" Face Plate Rings

Face Plate Rings. The design of these rings incorporates a 2" dovetail to fit standard 2" Patriot jaws. They work like ordinary face plates but are much more straightforward and convenient to fit.

3" Faceplate with Screw Chuck

Mount your bowls snugly and securely with this dedicated chrome plated 3" Faceplate / Screw Chuck with 3/4" screw & 4 counter sink mounting holes. Just mark the center of your blank then screw on the chuck at the marked center then secure with mounting screws. The combination of screw chuck and faceplate mount provides a very safe and secure bowl turning setup. 1" x 8tpi faceplate mount. Includes mounting screws.

4" Faceplate with Screw Chuck

Just mark the center of your blank then screw on the chuck at the marked center then secure with mounting screws. The combination of screw chuck and faceplate mount provides a very safe and secure bowl turning setup. 1" x 8tpi faceplate mount. Includes mounting screws.

Double Stick Tape

A different way to turn bowls without having to drill holes in your wood is to use cloth backed double faced tape to adhere the bowl blank to the faceplate of your lathe. This works great if your bowl blank is balanced and true, the tape will hold during the turning and finishing process. You can turn bowls up to 10 inches in diameter and 2 inches thick. For best results, always make sure that your work surface areas are clean and free of dust and debris before placing tape on the bowl blank. After you attach the blank to the faceplate you may want to clamp it as well for an extra secure bond. Always remember to tug or push on the bowl blank once it is installed on to the lathe to make sure you have a secure bond before turning. Once completed with your turning project, use a wood chisel to remove the bowl from the faceplate. Caution: make sure the bowl blank is dry, do not use the tape on wet wood. Each tape dispenses 108 feet of double stick tape.
