Acid Glue Multi-Purpose Brushes

Acid glue brushes are a small, multi-purpose and disposable type of brush. These brushes got there start in the plumbing industry. They were typically used for applying acid flux for pipe soldering applications. Nowadays, acid glue brushes are used for a wide variety of applications and a perfect for homeowners and professionals alike.

These brushes can be used for many different projects around your home, workshop or in various professional settings. They are ideal for applying wood glue to small areas like shelf joints and dado slots, biscuit slots, dowel holes and more. When we say Acid Glue Brushes, many of us may think that these type of brushes were meant for some sort of acidic glue substance for a certain type of application. That thought couldn't be any further from the truth. The truth is, Acid Glue Brushes can be used for applying wood glue, white school glue, soldering flux, grease, oil, chemical, acid based materials and they can also be used to clean delicate objects like small camera lenses, computer keyboards and a whole lot more!

Its simple really...

The idea for "acid" glue brushes came from the plumbing industry. Plumbers need a small applicator that wouldn't disintegrate when they would apply acid flux material to the piping for pipe soldering applications. It worked so well for plumbers for this application and many others as well. The glue part came along when woodworkers discovered that these brushes worked extremely well for applying wood glue into hard to reach areas. The brushes also worked well for applying glue to 1/2" and 3/4" stock to be glued up as panels. One thing is for certain, these brushes sure beat using our fingers to apply glue or any other material for that matter!

When applying grease or oil to mechanical parts, these brushes perform like they were specifically made for the job. With the soft, pliable horse hair bristles, these brushes are perfect for applying grease or oil to small, normally hard to reach mechanical parts. The brushes can also be used to clean out parts on firearms, electronics, small motors and more.

The brushes have a tin metal handle that is approximately 4-15/16" long. The soft horse hair bristles protrude about 7/8" from the end of the tin handle and are double crimped into the end of the tube. Acid glue brushes are made to be disposable, but can be re-used depending on what you use them for.

We've all used those pesky and irritating horse hair acid glue brushes to apply white school glue or yellow wood glue only to find out the bristles don't hold very well and the glue coverage is minimal. We've all done it. We apply some glue on craft paper or a piece of wood and instead of reaching for the old unreliable horse hair brush, we use our finger to spread the glue evenly. To clean or not to clean...

The SILI^® Brush is unique in that not only can you stop buying disposable brushes, but you can clean it immediately after using or you can simply let it sit and sit and sit and... well, you get the picture. Clean it or leave it, its up to you!

Waterproof bristles

If you choose to clean your brush immediately after use, simply run the glue brush tip under warm water and work the bristles with your fingers until all the glue is gone. You may use a liquid soap to help if so desired.

Let it dry

If you don't have the time or if you simply just prefer to, you can let the glue dry overnight. Once the glue is dry on the SILI^® Brush tip, simply crack the dried up glue and peel the glue off of the brush tip.

SILI^® Sticks - Set of 2

When you need to apply glue in small areas like dowel holes, biscuit slots, model builds, arts and crafts or anywhere that is hard to reach, we typically will improvise and grab a cotton swab or even worse yet, we use our finger tip. While there are other glue applicators available, none of them work quite like or nearly as well for small glue ups like the SILI^® Glue Sticks. This pack includes 2 SILI^® Glue Sticks.

The SILI^® Glue Sticks are made with dual profile tips on each brush. The flexible, silicone rubber tapered or dowel tip end is perfect for applying glue into small holes. This tip is not only tapered for easily fitting into the hole, but it is ribbed so the glue doesn't drip off so easily. This makes is perfect for applying your glue exactly where you want it to go.

The opposite end is a flat, chisel style end that is also made from silicone rubber and is flexible enough to help apply glue with just the right amount of touch and finesse when needed. This end works great for slightly larger areas and is especially useful for working glue into wood biscuit slots for wood biscuit joinery.

Kinda Feels Like a Pencil

When you first pick up on of the SILI^® Sticks, you may notice a familiar feel to it. It fits into your hand like a pencil. In fact, the largest diameter of the comfort grip is very close to that of a No. 2 pencil. This gives you the perfect amount of control when applying your glue.

Water vs Dry

It doesn't matter if you want to clean the brush right away or wait (or forget to do so) for the glue to dry. If you want to clean the brush right away, simply run it under warm water and work the excess glue off with your fingers. If you let the glue dry, bend the tip, crack the glue and peel the glue right off!

When you're done with your glue up project you can place the lid back on to the SILI^® Glue Pod. The lid seals snuggly on to the pod allowing you to store your glue for prolonged storage. We recommend storing glue in the sealed glue pod for no more than a week. When you want to dispense your glue back into another container, the hexagon shape and rounded corners of the pod makes the process easy.

As with all of our SILI^® brand items, the SILI^® Glue Pod and Lid are made from silicone rubber making it super easy to clean. The first method of cleaning the glue is using warm, soapy water. Simply run the SILI^® Glue Pod and Lid under warm water with a dab of dish soap and work the glue off of the pod surface. Once all of the glue is gone, let the pod and lid dry before using it for your next project.

Typically we are doing a lot of things at one time and we can sometimes forget stuff. When working on our projects, sometimes we forget to put the lid back on our glue containers. In the case of the SILI^® Glue Pod, you may still have glue in the pod or even on the lid. No worries! Simply let the glue completely dry. Once the glue is dry, you can easily peel the glue right off without damaging the pod or the lid! This makes clean up for us forgetful few even easier!
