Table Saw Taper Jig

Table saws are designed to rip stock parallel to the fence or cross-cut stock at various angles with a miter gauge. Making long rip cuts at angles from 1 deg to 15 degrees on a table saw without a jig can be challenging and dangerous attempting free hand. The Fulton Taper Cutting Jig has been designed to make long rip cuts at angles from 1 deg to 15 degrees using your table saw. Many of us like to build or create many different types of woodworking projects and we all have our "area of expertise". However, one area that many of us struggle with is cutting tapered cuts on our table saw. After all table saws are primarily used to rip long stock parallel to the fence or cross-cut stock from 90 deg to 45 deg angles with a miter gauge. Most saws do come with a miter gauge, but they are designed for cross-cutting narrower stock pieces like those found on a picture frame. To cut long tapered cuts on a table saw, you need some sort of jig or sled to help guide your stock through the blade. The Fulton Taper Jig which has been designed for the sole purpose of cutting long tapered angles on your table saw!

Cutting Tapers Doesn't Need To Be Complicated

With its simplistic design and ease of use, the Fulton Taper Jig makes cutting tapers on your table saw easy. Simply adjust the rails to the desired angle and you're ready to go. No micro adjusting needed with this jig. You can however adjust the rails using the scale to achieve your exact, desired angle, or you can draw a line on your stock and align to the blade. Either way, you'll get consistent results.

Choosing Sides is Easy

Depending on your saw capability and your personal preference, you may want to use the taper jig on either the left or right side of your table saw blade. Not all saws offer this, but for the ones that do this can come in handy. The Taper Jig can quickly be reversed by moving the stop and and handle to the opposite side.

Two Ways to Set the Jig

First use the scale that has markings up to 15 degrees of taper. Second mark the starting cut at one end and then mark the exit cut at the other end of your piece of stock. Then simply adjust the taper jig to match those two marks. Constructed of durable aluminum the Fulton Taper Cutting Jig comes with an easy grip handle, adjustable 24 inch rails with fixed stop, easy-to-read graduated scale that measures 0 to 15 degrees of taper (or 3 inches per foot) and full instruction sheet.

Standard Taper Jig

If you have ever had difficulty cutting long tapers on your table saw, this simple to use taper jig will help make that process easy and it will help you do it accurately! Featuring the Blade Safe and Short Reach Adjustable Hold Down clamps, this jig is the perfect way to cut chair legs, table legs, furniture angles and a whole lot more!

The jig comes with a 3/4" x 3/8" lightweight aluminum miter bar that features two steel removable slot discs. There is a disc on either end to prevent any incidental lift out of the slot. For those saws that don’t have a “T- Slot”, the discs may be removed. The miter bar also features spring loaded steel plungers to ensure a snug fit into 3/4" x 3/8" miter slots. Simply use the provided hex key wrench to adjust the plungers to achieve the ideal fit.

Large Handle Grip

With a rubber wrapped surface, the large handle is comfortable to hold and push. The handle sits on the opposing side of your saw blade to keep your hand a safe distance away from the blade at all times.

The Taper Jig also features an easy to use indexing system that helps make quick work of taper cuts. Each index mark equals 1 degree of taper. You may of course simply mark your wood, align your marks with the edge of the taper jig, clamp down your wood using the Blade Safe Hold Down Clamps and make the cut if so desired. The choice is yours. The Taper Jig comes with detailed, full color instructions for safe and accurate jig use.

You can also use the Taper Jig as a straight line ripping jig to give your stock a straight, true edge. To do this, simply remove the miter bar, “zero out the jig” and use your table saw fence as your guide for the jig. Please take note that the jig has been designed to be use on table saws in which the left edge of the right side miter slot is 4” to 6-1/2” from the blade.

We have included 3 Blade Safe and Short Reach Adjustable Hold Down clamps that come in super handy when clamping your stock to the jig. Each clamp can be adjusted inward or outward depending on how close or how far it needs to reach to hold down your stock. Unlike other taper jigs, our clamps are made from a composite material that will NOT damage your blade or cutters if accidentally cut into! This material also prevents accidental tripping of touch sensitive, safety table saw mechanisms.

Also made of a composite material and for the very same reason as the clamps, is the adjustable stop. Let’s face it, we’ve all done it where we set a jig or fixture for one project and forget to re-adjust for the next project. If the stop is projecting past the base it will get cut into. We specifically made this stop to take the cut as opposed to damaging your valuable table saw blade.

The Taper Jig Mini also features large, easy to grip knobs and handles. The base has reference marks at ¼ inch intervals for and easy setup process. Also included are two anti-slip abrasive strips to keep the adjustable fence from slipping while in use. The base is laminated and protected with a slick melamine surface that also helps prevent bowing and warping. The MDF base provides zero-clearance support for clean, smooth cuts. The base is approx. 7-1/4''W x 11-1/2''L x 1/2'' thick.
